I meant to get a picture of Myles and daddy at the airport, but we were busy carrying several bags. I did get a great picture of him this morning before we left he house, it's almost as if he could tell Luke was coming home today. We had a great time hanging out this evening at home.
Although this blog is not updated daily, it's a way to keep family and friends close when everyone seems so far away!

big shoes and thug shorts
It's been a busy week so today when I was dressing Myles we were at the last of his clean clothes. He had so many "spare" shorts at daycare just incase he needed them that I didn't have many at home. I have some shorts that are for a 2 or 3 year old, I can't remember..and they fit perfectly around his waste but they're a little big everywhere else...so he looked like a thug today, oh well, haha. When we got home he kept wanting to put my Crocs on so I went and got his Crocs (even though they're still too big and he wore them around for a while. Daddy will be home tomorrow!

Happy Anniversary mommy & daddy
Today Luke and I have been married for 4 years! Unfortunately, he's in Orlando until Saturday on a trip for work. Today Myles feels a little better and had a good day at daycare. Luke had some beautiful flowers sent to me at work and also surprised me tonight and had dinner sent to the house - and it was GOOD! I had a little surprise up my sleeve too. I had room service ordered for him this morning and I had sent a card and a Golf magazine with a friend that was on that same trip and she had the room service people put them on the tray with the breakfast. Also, this morning Myles and I made a "HAPPY ANNIVERSARY" sign for daddy and sent him the photo.

cup towers and a trip to the dr.
Today when I picked Myles up from daycare they said his temp was a little over 100 and that he was just kind of a mess today with runny nose, one of his ears draining etc. So they said I needed a note from a dr for him to come back to daycare tomorrow. So I called and they had an appointment tonight at 6:40. Before that we came home and played and ate supper. I started stacking some cups and Myles loved it. He was so excited to knock them over and then he tried stacking them himself. We went to the dr. and he has an ear infection in his right ear. I also mentioned the crazy reaction he had to scrambled eggs 2 times and they prescribed him an EpiPen...just in case of an emergency. It's so weird to think that my child has an EpiPen, I never thought he would. However, the dr said that when he gets to be 2 or 3 he can probably start eating egg because his throat will be bigger.

lunch with granddaddy and grandmomma Sink
This morning was a very different day for Myles. This morning he woke up and he was fussy all morning. He also kept sneezing and his nose was running. Usually when it rains he gets allergies, but I could tell he just wasn't acting right. Normally Myles takes 1 nap a day after his lunch time, for a couple hours, sometimes less. Today I picked Myles up around 11:15 to eat lunch with my dad and step-mom who came to Boone to visit. He was asleep! They said he had been whining all morning (not like him) and he curled up on a RUG and fell asleep, so they put him on his little mat he normally naps on. I couldn't believe it - I guess he was just tired - he didn't sleep good the night before. We had a great lunch and I took Myles back to daycare it was nap time again. He slept from 12:50-3:40! They said they think he's teething and I think so to, we'll see how the coming days...and nights...are....

another evening at camp
Today Myles had a good day at daycare. When I picked him up we went straight out to the camp sight again where my family was. Myles and David played a little while and we had some fire roasted hot dogs, baked beans...you know - all the good stuff. Then for dessert Donna and Jeremy made this awesome roasted banana. They cut it open and put chocolate and peanut butter chips in it as well as some marshmallows. Then the storm came. It was thundering and lightning for a while but the rain hadn't started yet. Myles and I left before it got too bad. About 20 minutes later as soon as I got home my mom called and said they were in Boone and were going home, haha. I couldn't believe it. She said the storm started getting worse so they broke down the whole camp in about 3 minutes and literally threw everything in the cars. I wish I was a bird in the tree to watch that!

fo-camping
This morning we had to say bye to daddy. He left the house about 5:45 and Myles just so happened to wake up right before he left, he must have sensed he was leaving. Myles and I went to church then came home for a while to sweat in the house, then we went to the Parkway to the campsite my mom, step-dad, brother and sister-in-law rented. I call it "fo-camping" because we just visited them for a while and came back home to sleep. If I didn't have to go to work tomorrow, I'd probably try to stay somehow and camp out! We were so happy to just be outdoors and had lots of fun playing, eating supper made over a fire and mommy enjoyed a couple of s'mores. I switched a setting on my camera to see if it may take better pictures, but it actually made ALL of my pictures fuzzy...so I don't really have a great one, but at least I know not to choose that setting again. It's obvious I don't know how to correctly use that camera, haha.

I was feeling better when I woke up today, then I was nauseous for a while again and then it finally went away...the 24 hr bug was gone! We played with Myles a lot today and got Luke packed up to go off to Orlando tomorrow for a WHOLE WEEK! He's going for work, and I'm so sad! Today Myles did lots of things that just amazed us. This morning he was playing around the couch and Luke said "one day he'll be climbing up on the couch." Then tonight, he climbed up on the couch all by himself. When he got on the couch he sat there and clapped and was so proud of himself. Then he started standing up and trying to run back and fourth on the couch so we had to stop that pretty quickly. Today was such a hot day that we barely survived in our house. At one point I filled up the kitchen sink with cool water and bubbles and let Myles play, he really enjoyed it. This picture is kind of fuzzy, but still cute!

Sesame Street is still the best
We never ever let Myles watch tv, but this morning he was so fussy and it was so hot everywhere in our house that we wanted to contain him to the living room. I turned on the tv and found Sesame Street and he was GLUED. At first he was watching from really far back then he walked up really close to the tv (only for a few seconds, for those concerned people). It's actually Saturday even though i'm going to put Friday's date on this blog update...I got some type of stomach bug and was really sick last night, even threw up in the Panera Bread restaurant trash can - fun!

a double photo day
This morning Myles woke up before I did and he was ready to eat at 6am. Needless to say, we had a lot of time to play before we left the house and while we were getting ready Myles played with shoes (of course). He kept trying to put my Crocs on so I had to get a picture of him with them on. He kept getting frustrated because he couldn't understand why he couldn't put the shoes on and wear them around. After having a great day at daycare, Myles was constantly making me laugh at home. We were playing in the living room and he kept going to his playroom to a bookshelf and he would get 1 book and bring it to me in the living room. I would tell him that I loved the book and it was my favorite book, so he would go back to the play room to get another one. I could see him the whole time so when he would get a book off the shelf I'd say "yay" and he'd get excited and walk very fast to me. With the picture of him bringing me a book, this was book #4 out of 9 or 10 he brought.

**mommy kisses**
Today after I picked up Myles we went to the grocery store. He was so good. I didn't even have to get out the 'safety bag' of cereal. When we got home I took his shoes off and he immediately went and got one shoe and handed it to me. He then reached up for me to get him (because he wanted me to put his shoe on). I sat down with him and put his shoe on and he limped around all goofy with the one shoe on. I asked him where his other shoe was and he walked over to the basket it was in and got it out, so I put that shoe on him too. He's so smart and his personality is just infectious! After dinner I was sitting on the couch and he would run to me like he wanted to hug me or something but he'd stop short of getting to me and ram his face into the couch and giggle. So I would grab him and kiss him all over his face and he would laugh and pretend he didn't want mommy kisses.

funny faces with daddy

This evening a friend of mine who I used to live with came up for a last minute visit to Boone so I went and had ice cream with her. It was so great to catch up. Daddy and Myles stayed home and played. When I left Myles was waving and saying bye bye, it was so cute. Then after I got about 2 miles down the road Luke called me and said Myles was standing at the door waving and staying bye bye. Then a little later after an hour or so of me being gone Myles went back up to the door and waved and said bye bye. Daddy took a couple of pictures of Myles tonight, and every picture he took Myles was making a funny face.
Today I realized something. We drop Myles up at daycare around 7:30 every morning and pick him up around 4:45 each evening. He usually gets up around 6:30 am and goes to bed between 7 and 7:30pm. So during each 24 hour period I get to see Myles for a total of about 3 and 1/2 hours. When you think about it, that's really sad. I really cherish the weekends and every moment I can spend with him. Typically on Monday's I miss Myles more than other days because I'm so used to being with him all weekend. All that to say, he's a great boy and I love every single second I get to spend with him.

spray bottle discovery
I don't know what it is about Sunday's but when we got home from church this evening Myles' teeth hurt bad. He slept on the way home, but apparently it wasn't enough so i put him back to bed for an hour or so. After he got up I could tell his teeth hurt. At first nothing i did helped. Then I noticed all he wanted was for me to hold him, so I sat on the couch and held him close and rubbed his back and he just sat there for a long time. Actually, I think that's the longest he's sat still in my lap since he was about 2 months old, haha. Tonight I got out a spray bottle because Myles loves water and I would spray him and he would giggle. He kept trying to learn how to spray it himself, it was fun.

I can drink through a straw
today I took a picture of Myles drinking from his now sippy cup with a straw because he learned how to drink from a straw a couple of weeks ago. It's been a good Saturday at home. Luke ran 10 miles this morning (he's getting close to that 1/2 marathon) and I'm so proud! He had to leave around lunch time to go pick someone up from the airport in Charlotte. Myles was such a good boy today. At one point I didn't feel very well so I was laying on the couch while he was playing and every 2 minutes or so he'd walk over to me and love on me. One time he even puckered his lips out to kiss me, it made my day!

Hanging out with daddy
tonight Mommy had to go out to eat for work so Myles and Daddy hung out. They had a wonderful time and Myles ate good and played nicely. Daddy took a picture of Myles when he was eating tonight. When I picked Myles up from daycare today he was outside. Not only was he outside, he was in the sandbox. When his teacher picked him up to bring him to me the sand just poured off of him. Needless to say, as soon as we got home we threw Myles in the tub and he had a blast splashing in the sandy water :)

no crash toys
Myles has these 2 toys that he's never been too interested in until now. One is a bug and one is a giraffe (with a baby giraffe tied behind it). Basically they have wheels on them and you press them down and then they go on their own. For some reason if we accidentally run the 2 toys in to each other Myles gets really upset at one of them and knock it over and yells at it. Tonight we kept running them into each other to try to figure out why he was getting mad, and he would every time, interesting.

rough day
Myles had very few moments of happiness today. One of the down sides of being a toddler is teething. Myles is always a happy baby and he's been through so much with all his ear infections etc, so I would consider him a tough guy, but I guess nothing really prepares you for getting your molars and what they call "i teeth" (you know those pointy ones) all at once. He didn't sleep very good last night and then today his nose ran ALL day...I mean, there were only a few small moments it stopped. He chewed on his fingers but wouldn't chew on a cold wash cloth or anything else. All in all, we cuddled him a lot and he still have some moments of joy. I took some pics of him crying since he did that so much today, but I just couldn't put that up here, it was too sad. So i actually got a great picture of him putting on his daddy's cap.

busy Blowing Rock
This morning Luke got up early to run and Luke and I went over to a friends house to pick apples. They had some green apple trees so we got a hand full of apples and came home and I made some apple, cinnamon pancakes. They were good and Luke says they need to be a Saturday morning regular. After playing and resting a little we went out to downtown Blowing Rock to walk around. It was VERY busy so we just looked around a little and then left. Myles enjoyed watching all the people and riding in his stroller.

that water tickles
Today after work Myles and I came home for a few minutes then we went to Chic-Fil-A with Ms. Julie, Davis and Dawson. Dawson is just 5 weeks older than Myles so it was cool to have them together for a little while. When we got home he took a quick bath, then we played on the living room floor in front of the fan. I always keep Myles' water around because I find that he usually drinks it if it's there. He layed down for a moment on a pillow so I splashed his belly with the cool water and he laughed so hard! So I kept doing it and he would arch his back and smack his belly where the water hit and laugh and laugh!

another happy family day
Today we went to Biltmore in the morning. We drove by the Biltmore house and went to the new Antler Hill Village. We went in several cool shops and things. We also walked around at the former barn area and the farm and of course we had to visit the creamery for some ice cream. Myles had a lot of fun with his cousin David - they ate breakfast together and even danced and watched some cartoons together.

Family 4th fun!

today was a great day. We had a cookout after church today and then after that we drove to my mom's house in Asheville (near Weaverville). We, along with my brother, his wife and Myles' cousin David are all spending the night tonight. We let the boys play in the sprinkler and they had a great time. I never did get a good picture of them together this evening, but they had a lot of fun and I guess all of the memories of today will just have to stick in my head (for a little while anyway). Tomorrow we go to Biltmore, I'm very excited!

I've been working out
today I put some balls up Myles' sleeves and at first he tried to get them out and then he just gave up and kept walking around with them in his sleeves. We've just had a fun day at home playing and cleaning. We're always cleaning or organizing something around here. Today we made a 'playroom' out of the spare bedroom we have. Myles has been enjoying it. We're about to make a great supper...spice rubbed chicken on the charcoal grill, corn on the cob, zuccihini, squash, cucumber, red papper, and watermelon and blueberries for dessert - this is what summer is all about!

Happy Birthday Porter
Tonight after we got off work we went to our friends, Rebecca and Todd's house. Their son Porter is turning 1 so we went over for a small celebration with dinner and an awesome monkey cake. Myles and Porter haven't played together since Myles' birthday party in April. They were both focused on eating for a long time, but a little while after they ate Rebecca brought out a keyboard and they both had some fun!

date night
tonight Luke and I had planned on going on a date. Everyone that we know that could babysit Myles couldn't do it tonight, but we decided to still go. We went to the Shops on the Parkway and then to Outback to eat. Myles was such a good boy. Now that he's starting to be a bigger boy he understands what crayons are for, for the most part. He tried to eat them every now and then, but he had a great time. Notice the 'concentration face' as he's coloring.
EVERY single time we go out to eat someone comments on what a good boy he is, and it makes me feel so good. The funny thing about this is that almost every time this happens, when we're walking out to the car or getting in the car he will pitch a fit, haha. Overall, he's a great boy and we love him so much!
