Halloween 2010

Today was pretty much an ordinary day except Myles did a lot of really cool and funny things. As he did these things throughout the day I kept thinking "i've gotta put this on the blog later"...but now I can't remember. He's slowly been saying a lot more lately, but it seems like today was one of those days he said everything we said. Today he said football "bo ball", pumkin "bum bem", and much more. Today we went to church and came back home and played. We dressed Myles up in his dinosaur costume (thanks to grandma and papaw Roland) and walked around outside for a few minutes. I made a cake and some "mummy's" which were hotdogs with croissant dough wrapped around them. Before Myles went to bed he got all hyper and started running back and fourth between the 2 couches, it was really funny.

Myles now has one of his eye teeth...it came through his gums yesterday...just 3 more teeth to go..then at some point we'll start counting the one's he loses.

honk honk, Fun Fest!

This morning Myles was playing and he was blowing the horn in his car. Then for some reason he decided to blow the horn using his head. It was funny. Later yesterday evening we went to our church for the Fun Fest! I forgot to take the camera (of course) but Myles was a good boy and we all had a great time. There were lots of games and LOTS of balloons which was Myles' favorite. We rode on a hayride and Myles even got to stay up late.

concentration face

daddy came back home tonight so we played a lot. I got this little pumpkin bag with candy in it today at work and Myles kept taking the candy in and out and he would concentrate really hard, it was funny. I took his pants off in an attempt to make him think we were ready to go to bed and he kept trying to put the pants on his head. I took a few pictures but they didn't turn out all that good. Myles was glad to have daddy home

not much time at home

Today Luke went to the Cove in Asheville for an event so he doesn't come home until tomorrow. Tonight Myles and I went to a Super Target a few miles from home. Myles loved the big red balls on the outside like he always does. He did great and then we came home. Some of our neighbors were outside so we went to talk to them for a while. There are a few girls that live in our street (elementary school age), but Myles liked to watch them hula hoop and ride their bikes. We took the recycling bin to the front of the house to be picked up tomorrow, then came in side and Myles went to bed. Since we were so busy I didn't get a picture of Myles so I'm using this one from last weekend when my mom (aka 'nana') and popi were visiting.

fun with a box

Myles can have fun with anything. This evening he played with/in a box that Grandma and Papaw Roland sent his halloween costume in. It's a dinosaur costume! We're trying to get Myles used to it because the hood kind of hangs lower than any other hoods he has. Anyway - we're just hanging out tonight.

kiss the monkey

Tonight Myles was a good boy. Luke had to do an event for SP in Charlotte today so he was at home when we got home. He left to go to church so I got dinner ready and Myles played in the kitchen. After dinner we went up and I let Myles take a bath because he loves it so much! Myles was being funny tonight because he kept wanting to eat everything. I know he's teething so he's been putting his hands in his mouth a lot, but he hasn't put other things in his mouth in a while. When he was in the bath he put some soap suds in his mouth...funny face...then he was done with that taste test. After his bath I was putting powder on him. He likes to help me rub it in on his legs and arms so he had some on his fingers and put it in his mouth....funny face....tongue out....then I took him to the bathroom and washed his mouth out, haha. he has a newer monkey pajama shirt and tonight i got it out of the drawer and he got the shirt and hugged it and i asked him to kiss the monkey and it was really cute. Then i put the shirt on him and he kept trying to kiss it still. It was SO funny. I couldn't get a great picture, but you can tell what he was doing.

busy day

Today was a good day and Luke was at home today when Myles and I got home because he had some interviews at BGEA today. This picture was taken yesterday. We're all tired so we'll talk more later.

Nana, Popi and the air mattress

today My mom and step-dad (aka Nana and Popi) came to visit. We all played with Myles for a while then walked to eat dinner. We had a good meal, then came back to play with Myles some more. They are staying the night so they brought their air mattress in and blew it up. We all laughed so hard at Myles when he first got on that thing. He was giggling too, but when he would walk he would pull his knees up really high. I kept trying to get a video of it, but he kept running towards me and it didn't seem to work so good. We felt like we were so loud we kept saying "i hope the neighbors don't hear us." Then all of a sudden the door bell rings. We all stopped and looked at each other like "oh no, we're busted!" Luckily it was just someone trying to sell something. Myles finally had to go to bed and we all stayed up and talked and laughed some more. It was a great day!

good saturday

Today was a nice fall day. It was very beautiful. Myles and I took a walk around the neighborhood this morning while Luke was running. It was chilly at first but we enjoyed it. We played and had a nice day as a family. We went to a couple of shops and stopped by PetCo where they were having a pet adoption so Myles enjoyed seeing the dogs. We came back home for a while, then grilled out some hotdogs. It was a great day with together as a family. For some reason I forgot to take a picture all day so I put this one up from last weekend.

a visit from grandaddy and grandmommy Sink

Tonight my dad and step-mom came down to eat supper and hang out for a little while. We ate at this great Chinese place near our house (we were able to walk there). When we came back it was past Myles's bed time and he was very fussy, so grandaddy got out his iPad and let Myles play a 'painting' game on it. He felt a lot better after that. It was a very good evening. Myles got a new train and some new clothes too!

KETCHUP

tonight Myles discovered something new...yes - ketchup! He had it last night with some potatoes I made and he did great at dipping the potatoes in the ketchup, but tonight he just got a little wild. Look closely at the picture at his face and hands. He was scooping up the ketchup with his hands and eating it...forget the potatoes! Looks like mommy's gonna have to make some homemade, all natural ketchup if he likes it that much! Today was a long day at work, Luke actually stayed home sick today, I think he has a cold and he just needed some rest, bad! Oh - and I promised I'd upload 2 pictures today since the blogger wouldn't let me load one yesterday. The one from Myles eating yesterday was taken from my cell phone, is was his first time dipping potatoes into ketchup, and he was so neat and clean and did great at it - unlike today!

fun fries

today Myles had another great day. When we came home I immediately made some supper for Myles. He played with some pots and pans. I cut up some large red potatoes in the shapes of fries and boiled them. Then I put them in a cool little cup and put some ketchup for him to dip them in. He was so excited to dip them in the ketchup. So excited that he dipped his turkey in there too. After dinner we went on a walk (I pushed him in the stroller). A couple of our neighbors have decorated a lot for Halloween and Myles loves seeing the lights and things - so that means he's probably going to love Christmas this year! I took a picture of him eating his fries, but the blog will not let me upload the picture due to maintenance on the web page. By the way...Myles still hasn't had a "real" french fry - you know...the frozen kind they dunk in grease to fry. :)

*i'll post 2 pictures tomorrow

testing the utensils

When I get dinner ready for Myles sometimes he gets anxious. He's a great eater and always wants to eat, no matter what time of the day it is. Tonight I was getting Myles' food ready and he wasn't anxious at all. He was playing with the spices and all kinds of things in the kitchen. I gave him his dinner (which he literally ate in 2 minutes - and that's a story with photos for another day), but he kept telling he was done. Usually he says "more" about 9 times before he is finished but he kept telling me "done" - I could tell he had his mind on something. So he finished and I got him out of his chair and he went straight to the drawer with the utensils in it...spatulas, whisks, etc. He plays in this drawer all the time, but for some reason he kept putting them in his mouth...I guess he wanted to test them to make sure they were ok to use.

my self portrait

Today was another normal day except Myles' runny nose all day. He had a good day at daycare and was a good boy when we came home. He had a wonderfully healthy dinner (chicken, spinach, butternut squash, corn and black beans), then later on when we were brushing Myles' teeth I noticed a new tooth coming in. It hasn't broke through the gums so I'm hoping it won't be a rough night tonight.

walking in Grandmas shoes

Today was a great day at church, then when we came home Luke's parent's were here! We ate some pizza and hung out most of the evening. We all crawled around the floor and mostly laughed at Myles and his funny antics. He's not AS obsessed with shoes as he used to be, but he did put on his grandma's shoes a couple times and scuff across the floor in them. A couple of times he did a little dance in them, it was really funny! He's teething a little today, he still doesn't have any of this four eye teeth and some of them are swollen and they were bothering him some, so I'm expecting maybe to see some new teeth this week - hopefully without some rough nights!

ball...no....pumpkin!

Today was kind of a hard day. Myles had his ups and downs and wore us out! This morning I made him some special waffles made with rice milk and he dipped them in soy yogurt. I didn't know if he'd understand the whole "dipping" thing, but he did and loved it!
We were going to go to a pumpkin patch today, but we read about it online before we went and you have to pay $8.50 a person to get on a hayride to go to the patch, so we decided not to go. We're glad we didn't because when we went to a place just down the road Myles was interested in the pumpkins, but he thought they were all balls. When I took him to pick out his very own small pumpkin he kept picking them all up and throwing them down because he wanted them to bounce like a ball.

i'm tired

an arm flappin' good time

Today Myles had another great day at daycare. I picked him up and he told the 3 kids in his class bye...1 other little boy and 2 twin girls. They're so cute when they all tell each other bye. Myles started screaming in the car when we were on the highway. The traffic was bad so I decided to go off an exit about 5-6 miles before the exit we live on. Myles still wasn't happy and traffic was still bad on that exit too, so we stopped off at the Northlake Mall for a while. Myles got much happier to ride around in his stroller, watch people, and bob his head to the music in the different stores.

When we got home we ate and dada finally got home! Myles was so excited to see him and play. In this picture Myles was flapping his arms and laughing so dada started doing the same and it was the BEST game ever! A little later Myles called grandma Roland and talked to her for a long time! He told her about his day, how to say dada, moma, nana, papaw, and also that a dog says 'ruf ruf'.

attack dada!

Tonight when we got home Myles ate and then we went for a walk. I rode around in his stroller and I pushed. We saw 3 dogs which was the highlight of Myles' day I think. Now when you ask him what a dog says he says "ruf ruf". After daddy got home Myles started attacking him and he was so funny. It was a good day. We're glad tomorrow is Friday!

year and 1/2

Today Myles a year and 1/2 years old and I just can't believe it. It was a busy day. I managed to buy some batteries for the camera today, but between coming home and making something to eat for Myles and eating, then going to Target to get a few things and coming home and putting Myles straight into bed..I just didn't get a picture taken. We'll see how tomorrow goes.

*here's another picture from the other day

new things

Well the camera takes 2 double A batteries and Luke needed them today...and I didn't get to the store to buy more, so I didn't take a new picture today - but that doesn't mean Myles didn't have loads of fun. He had a good day at daycare and when we got home we played all evening. I tried to take daddy's place of wrestling because Myles kept running at me and wanting me to play hard like daddy does - but I'm just not daddy, haha. It's funny how every day Myles does something different and usually hilarious. Today on the way home Myles burped and then after that he tried to imitate his own burp (or maybe he was just trying to burp again) but he just kept grunting over and over and it was just great. Then later on he was playing on this body pillow in the living room floor and he started hitting his head on the pillow over and over (headbanging). I'm not sure why he was doing it but he thought it was funny. Then later he started spinning in circles, which he's never done before either. I wish i could take pictures and video tape the whole time I'm ever with him!

*this picture is one i took yesterday. This is Myles' "i'm being silly" face

wild child

Today after Luke got home from work Myles put it into high gear. He was all over the place and acting like a 'wild child' as my step-mom would say :)

here's a brief moment I caught Myles and took a quick picture...please ignore the boger in his nose

another great Sunday

today was an amazing day at church. Myles was tired and fell asleep almost 2 minutes after we got in the car, haha. We came back home and Luke watched football and we all played together and had a great time. I wasn't able to take a picture today so i thought I'd show a small picture of Myles' room. His room is so huge I had to take 4 or so pictures...but this is of his crib, door and part of his huge closet. He loves all the room to run and play!

my new Chuck Taylor shoes

Today we just relaxed for most of the day and just hung out with Myles. Around 3 we went to a few places and made our way to the Concord Mills Mall (along with about 34830438 other people, so it seemed). We got Myles some new shoes because his were getting very tight. We got him some cool Chuck Taylors because he's a cool boy! :)

reunion day

today was one of the best days ever. We flew back to Charlotte and drove to Wilkesboro to pick Myles up. It was a very happy moment for us. The happiest thing for him was to see the huge blow up dinosaur across the street at a used car lot. He was saying "roar" over and over, it was so cute! Of course everything he does in the next 24 hours is cute, haha. I had a gift card to Olive Garden so we celebrated all of us being at home by going to the Olive Garden by the Northlake Mall down here in Charlotte. Myles had a blast eating his penne with meat tomato sauce. In this picture he didn't have it on his face as much as he did when he finished, but every other picture I tried to get he had his hand in front of his face or something. I guess he was talking with his mouth full. Afterwards we walked around at REI and went to Target (where they have the big red balls outside of the door which Myles LOVES, "ba..ba...ba....ba.."

We then went home and put Myles in his very own bed!

last day apart

ok so it's really late and I have to pack to leave tomorrow morning - but we had a great day, Myles had a great day and here are the pictures...

bittersweet days

I think today is a bitter sweet day for both Myles and I...I think him and are both on the same page right now. I miss him so much and I can't wait to see him, but we're also having a good time here at the conference. Myles kind of had a rough day today (I think he's starting to realize we're not around this week) but he's now close with Porter and all the Liljestrand family.

*pictures - Myles and Porter going for a ride in the double stroller; playing in the sandbox; and Myles playing peek-a-boo in the curtains.

more busy/fun days

today was a good full day for us here in Ohio - we had some meetings this morning and a service tonight and everything was great and refreshing! Myles also had a great and busy day with the Liljestrands. It was a cool day but they went to some stores and played a lot in the house. Apparently they won everyone's hearts in the grocery store. They were making car noises (you can see it on their faces in the picture) and Myles was giving people high fives and saying "hi" to people as they passed them...can you say extrovert! He's definitely Luke Roland's son, haha! Myles and Porter have become instant friends and they get along great. They haven't fought over toys or anything supposedly. You can see with this picture of them on the steps that they both have their own way of going down, but it's cute. His diarrhea issues have gotten better, almost completely gone, and he's sleeping well, eating well and taking 2.5 hour naps during the day...he never sleeps that much at home or even at daycare during nap time. I guess he's wearing himself out!

*FYI, I'm just adding pictures that are sent to me of Myles and not taking any pictures of me or Luke because let's admit it...we all know the ones of Myles are the only ones you want to see.

additional pictures

here are some pictures I got and I wanted to posted from Rebecca

day of travels for mommy and daddy

We flew to the Detroit airport and then drove down to Toledo (well Maumee to be correct). We are resting a little bit in the room before the first service starts tonight. We're hoping to talk to Myles on Skype tonight to see how he's grown so far, haha. I'm sure he'll be about a foot taller by the time we get back. I've texted Rebecca some today and Myles has had a great day. He napped, and ate 2 breakfasts (I'm not surprised at all) and played outside and went on a walk. I'm not sure if I'll get another photo sent today or not, so i'll go ahead and add this one for now - it was from last night too. I warned Rebecca that Myles had some kinda weird obsession with shoes...but I guess now that she saw him walk all over the house with them on she understands a little more, haha.

Sunday, October 3, 2010

bye bye Myles

today we had to give Myles away for about 5 days. We're going to an annual church conference in Toledo, Ohio tomorrow so today after church we met some friends who are keeping Myles and passed him on over. The Liljestrand family, Rebecca, Todd and Porter (who is just 3 months younger than Myles) are keeping him for the week. Honestly...it was probably the saddest moment I've had since Myles was born...the saddest moment before that being when I went to a womens conference for a few days this past winter. This is his first time away without being with mommy or daddy and it's so sad to me. I know he's having a great time and loving every moment of it, but right now...being at home...and him not being here...is very hard!

Miss you Myles!

here's a picture that Rebecca sent me of the boys eating their snack together. The update email I got tonight was very positive...Myles is doing great and when she laid him down to sleep he didn't even make a peep! *notice...I didn't have enough time to find matching socks for Myles before we left the house this morning.

sticker head!

Today was a good day hanging out with Myles...minus the diarrhea and diaper rash problems he's had since Thursday evening - blahh! We're going to Ohio this week and leaving Myles with some friends tomorrow so all day I've been thinking "this is my last day with him", it's such a horrible feeling. Today Myles was playing with some sticker and daddy's head was the best canvas to use. It's hard to get him to focus on something for any length of time, but he loved this "sticker game" and played for over 30 minutes.

the steps

Look close...Myles is going up the steps...actually he usually gets to the big steps he's on and then turns around and comes back down (we taught him not to go up further because he ends up getting hurt and falling back down). Steps are a new thing for him, and now with a 3 story townhouse, there are plenty of steps. We haven't bought any baby gates yet, but we need to get some for the tops of the steps. He's getting to be such a big boy and he's talking a lot more and understands things we say. We're exited abotu this weekend together.
