This evening mommy and daddy went out of town to hang out and Hollie Storie stayed at home with Myles. They had such a great time and Myles even fell asleep on Hollie while they were on the couch. Myles told me he loves Hollie and hopes they can hang out again sometime!
Although this blog is not updated daily, it's a way to keep family and friends close when everyone seems so far away!

bath time is AWESOME

Today was a pretty good day. When we got home we went to the Greenway for Luke to run and me and Myles to walk around and ride in the stroller. After a good supper, it was bath time. Myles just absolutely loves bath time. Tonight daddy was there taking pictures. He got one of mommy squirting Myles with his new fish toy from the dentist office yesterday.

to the dentist I will go...
So the life of good dental hygiene begins...today Myles had his very first dentist appointment. There are studies that if a child goes to the dentist when they're 1 instead of when they're 2 or 3 years old they will have less fillings and dental emergencies in the long run. So basically Myles' appointment was for them to look in his mouth and make sure everything looked ok. The fun pediatric dentist had all kinds of fun things to look at and play with. Of course I forgot to take my camera. Even though the photo today isn't of Myles, I think this booklet of goodies they gave me will help me to always remember his first appointment. I think his favorite thing about going to get dentist was getting a new toy. Myles got a bath toy that squirts water out - he just giggles his heart out when I squirt him!
p.s. Myles has 6 teeth right now (all 4 top middle ones and the bottom middle 2), but i think by the next few days the other 2 bottom teeth beside the middles will appear!

mmm stuffed peppers
we had stuffed peppers for dinner tonight and Myles loved it. He's not a huge fan of vegetables (like his daddy) so I try to hide them everywhere. Myles of course loved the meat and rice of the stuffed peppers but when it came to the green pepper I cut it up really small and hid it in the bites of meat thinking that he wouldn't even notice...hope...he chewed up the meat and rice then would spit out the piece of green pepper. It's amazing to me that a toddler that can't even say 5 words yet can somehow chew up meat and rice and know which one is the vegetable and spit it out - ugg! I hope he's not always this picky.

crazy fingers
the other day Myles started to wave and at the knuckles where his fingers bend were getting stuck and we had never seen him do that....and someone said "he's double jointed". For all those worriers out there, his fingers weren't hurting him, it was just awkward looking when he did that. So this picture doesn't necessarily portray this, but I wanted to mention it because I thought it was an interesting trait he has. I guess as he gets older we'll see if he has any tricks up his sleeve to make his friends think he has creepy fingers, haha.

sleepy head

This photo is pretty fuzzy but it's exactly who Myles is today...a sleepy head. He slept a little on the way to church, but by the time he played in the nursery all morning he was very tired. We went to eat afterwards and he always does SO great in restaurants - we never have to worry about him being 'that kid that won't stop screaming', but today just before we finished lunch he got very tired and kept laying his head down on the table. It was hard to get a good picture with a cell phone, but it was too cute. I was giving him some refried beans and he would lean over to take a bite and lay down on the table instead. One time he even laid his head down before he took the bite and the beans ended up on his forehead, haha. So today, he really was a sleepy head!

April Showers!

Today was a wonderful day of happy things. We went down to High Point for Ashley's (Luke's sister) wedding shower. Her and her hubby-to-be, Orlando got lots of awesome stuff. Today was the longest trip Myles has taken in his new car seat. We thought he would have slept more on the way down there but he only slept about 10 minutes. So when it was nap time we thought he wouldn't have a problem - nope, he decided to scream for about an hour or more. Daddy took good care of him though.
Myles really enjoyed visiting with his grandmaw and papaw and Aunt Ashley (and soon to be Uncle Orlando) :) You can't have a shower without rain right? Most of the hard rain was while we were driving back to Boone, but it drizzled a little bit during the wedding shower - so Myles and Ashley put on their rain boots and headed outside...therefore my photo of they day! One of my favs! :)

Cool Cambodian Clothes
I got this outfit Myles is wearing at a baby shower before he was even born from one of my favorite people in the world. I work at Samaritan's Purse with Hallie Powers and she travels the world a lot. She's always very thoughtful and she has brought me several things from other countries. This outfit was her gift to Myles from Cambodia. He enjoyed wearing them and looked very cool in them!

Music is what you make it
It's been a busy day....I had to pick Myles up at daycare a little early because he had a fever of 103. The fever went down to 100 and he's acting normal. Yesterday I gave him some pots and pans and some wooden spoons and he loved them. Today since he wasn't feeling as good I put a pot on his high chair tray along with a spoon. I know the noise of toddlers banging pots and pans are just loud noise to most people but to me it means my little boy is happy and healthy and has the ability to hit pots and pans...
- so to me it's music. But most importantly...to Myles, it's his music!

license plate # MYLES RULZ
today Myles learned how to get in and out of his car - and I think he did it about 50 times. He would climb in and be facing backwards and turn himself around. Then he would close the door, open the door, close the door again and open the door again, then turn himself around and crawl out of the car face first. He's so smart.

~* FRIENDS *~
Tonight one of my favorite people came to visit. Megan Hill and I met at Cornerstone Summit a few years ago and have been good friends since then. We don't get to hang out as much as we used to so she comes to hang out every now and then. I kept trying to get a picture of Megan and Myles together but Myles was kind of afraid. He's going through a phase of being scared of strangers so he didn't really want to sit alone with Megan. He also just started crying when we dropped him off at daycare, so we're having to do the 'drop and run' thing for now.
thanks Megan for coming to hang out!

tired little man

on Mondays for the past 5 weeks or so, when we pick Myles up from daycare we've gone straight to church in Wilkesboro (45 minutes from Boone). Luke and I were both leading small groups. Myles got a new car seat for his birthday that he LOVES. He doesn't sleep very much in it but today he was very sleepy and slept on the way there and back.

you tubing
There's a video on youtube.com called "Charlie bit my finger" - it's of 2 little British boys and the younger baby bites the other boy's finger and the baby starts laughing. Luke loves to show that video to Myles and it makes him laugh too. You have to know, Myles LOVES our laptop and when he gets around it he just wants to touch they keys and the screen. But for some reason today when Luke played "Charlie bit my finger" Myles just stood there and watched and pointed and giggled.
Here's the video:

I can't walk, but I can play while on one foot
Myles borrowed this toy - I don't even know what it's called - but he stands up at it and plays and he loves it. The funny thing is, just recently he started standing up at this toy and playing with it with his feet, it's really funny and I've been trying to get a picture of him doing it for over a week, and I finally got a picture of him today, so here it is!

don't drink and drive...in a Little Tikes car
It's been a really busy week and almost every day when we get home we've had to either leave or do something else so Myles hasn't had much of a chance to play with all his new birthday toys this week. But this evening he was able to get in his Little Tikes car which he LOVES. He loves to push it, ride around, open and close the door, and just sit in it and play with toys. Myles has days where he is teething more than other days. He wasn't fussy this evening, but he was drooling and teething so he was chewing on things. So he was playing with this water bottle because it made a lot of noise and because when he chewed on the lid it made his gums feel good.

dirt sampler with a side of mis-matched pj's
Today has been a pretty normal day...take Myles to daycare, go to work, pick up Myles from daycare. It's 'orientation week' at work with new International Field Staff in Boone so I've been pretty busy. We took them out to eat at Outback Steakhouse tonight. When we got home we both had our hands full. I put Myles down and then was holding the door open for Luke...
*side note - I'm not a huge fan of dirt. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind to get dirty, I just don't want to eat dirt and I don't want my child eating dirt...not until he's older anyway.*
Ok back to the story -so we normally take our shoes off at the door to prevent from spreading dirt across the house..I was holding the door open for Luke and because the door was open Myles automatically wanted to go to it, so he started crawling fast. He puts toys and stuff in his mouth, but so far he's never picked up any small foreign object off the floor and put it in his mouth. Luke came in the door, I got it shut and before I could even put my bags down Myles stopped crawling and put something in his mouth. I went to get it out of his mouth and out came a wad of dirt. I got most of it out and he's fine.
My step-mom would be very happy because when I was growing up she would always say "I can't wait for you to have kids and for them to eat dirt." Well...
I didn't have a picture of the dirt so I took a picture of Myles in his mis-matched pajamas. Right now he's kinda growing out of his pj's so he's been wearing one type of pants and a different shirt - he looks pretty funny, and we'll probably never remember this when he's older.

4 shots+a finger prick = ouchy!
Today Myles had his 1 yr doctor's appointment. He's always a good boy when we go to the dr., but I'm glad they wait until the end to do the shots, because they HURT mr. Myles. He got 4 immunizations today plus his finger pricked to check for other stuff, which is the norm. He weighs 23lbs 1.7 oz - so he more than tripled his weight since he was born. He was 31 inches long. The doctor is still saying he'll probably be 6ft. tall, but he can't tell until Myles is 2. Did you know that when a child turns 2 they are 1/2 of their full grown size - that's crazy! Anyway, everything else checked out great, Myles is growing wonderfully. So I chose this picture of his "boo boo's" from his shots. He got Spiderman band-aids, and a Bob the Builder sticker :)
Now it's time for the world of whole milk, mmm!

what is the 365 project?
I heard of this from one of my friends...basically you take a picture every day that represents that day - it's almost like a modern day 'daily journal'....I'm starting this on Myles' 1st birthday so we can look back and see what we've done all year and hopefully I can keep this up, I really want to!
let the fun begin.....
4/13/10 - day of celebration
today was Myles' 1st birthday. I picked him up at daycare for lunch and he came to work to visit and eat with us. The weather was perfect today too! We picked up Myles after work and he was happy. We came home, blew some bubbles and played with him all evening. We fed him some supper, then we let him dig into his birthday cake again - unfortunately he threw up afterwards...oops - i guess he wasn't used to having any sugar, haha. He was really tired after that, so we gave him a quick bath and let him open his presents. His FAVORITE was his toy piano. Just before he opened this gifts he was very fussy and tired and then suddenly when he saw the piano he had forgotten he was tired - so that's why I posted this picture. After Myles went to bed we watched the video from the night he was born, we saw them weigh him, bathe him and it was just so wonderful to see him as a tiny baby again. Now he's officially a toddler - what a wonderful celebration we had all day today!
