today after work I got Myles and went to eat with the Birthday girls (a group of girls from work that all get together once a month to eat and celebrate the birthdays of that month). We had a good time and Myles was so cute, showing them all of his sign language signs etc.
Although this blog is not updated daily, it's a way to keep family and friends close when everyone seems so far away!

mommy's church shoes
Today was a long (but awesome day) at church. We had the normal service in the morning, Luke had a meeting at 2 and Myles and I went to Wal-Mart to get some snacks for after the service later in the evening. When we got back Myles played in the nursery...and with my shoes. We had a great church service that evening, followed by a meeting and cleaning and then we were home by midnight. No worries, Myles went to sleep before that and he's doing great.

I heart grandaddy Sink
Today we hung out in Burnsville a little more. It was a busy day and I'm tired - but I got a cute picture of Myles walking with his grandaddy today. They went on a walk outside around the barn. He held grandaddy's hand the whole time. When I got close enough to get a good picture Myles started running toward me.

the horse tire swing!
Today after work Myles and I went to Burnsville because Luke was going on a mens camping retreat with some church guys. Myles and David had a wonderful time on the new horse tire swing that Grandaddy bought for them. Actually, David had a wonderful time ON the horse and Myles had a great time watching David on the horse. We also cooked out some burgers and hung out for a while. It was a good evening.

busy parents and sick boy = throwback photo
today I'm doing a throwback because it's been such a busy day. When I picked Myles up from daycare he had a fever - it was 100 something so they wouldn't let him back to daycare tomorrow unless he had a doctors note, so I took him to the only appointment they had that evening (7:20). So we got home about 8:45 and I put Myles straight to bed. Oh, and also during our evening, before we went to the doctor, I gave Myles some rice cakes with a little peanut butter on them..just a little....and he started getting red dots on his face. I took pictures of it and took the camera to the dr. and he said it's definitely an allergic reaction. So now he's allergic to dairy, eggs, and nuts....lets just hope the list doesn't keep getting longer. One day a month or so ago Myles was putting these plastic circles and dropping them off the couch arm - it reminded me of the game PLINKO from The Price is Right.

future bag boy in training
Today after I picked Myles up and we went to the grocery store. When we came home it was raining so I tossed the bags by the door and then got Myles. He was super hungry so I put him down and put most of the groceries up. My friend Megan came over to hang out...and Myles loves Megan. There are certain people he just has a connection with (I have no clue why) but he likes her :) While we all were playing Myles got one of the bags I use for groceries and put some of his cups that he plays with in there. I put it around his shoulders and he thought that was super funny. Notice the art on the wall in the background - it's all from daycare. I love getting his art - as any mom would! Of course I can't keep it all...but who says I can't put it ALL on the wall right now? :)

uhhh
I wanted to title this "there's something in my shorts", but it just didn't seem appropriate for some reason, haha. Tonight Nana and Popi Cruz surprised Myles and stopped by to play for a while. Popi is crazy and he put a soft ball nerf basketball into the back of Myles' shorts. Myles was walking in circles trying to get it out. He eventually got frustrated because he couldn't get the ball out, but at least it was funny to us!

Papaw and me
today Grandma and Papaw Roland came to Boone to visit for a little while today. Myles showed off all his fun tricks. We went to Chic-Fil-A for lunch, and he showed them his new sign language sign "please". He also showed them how to stuff about 7 grape halves in his mouth and pretend to be a chipmunk. Then we went to TJ Maxx for a little while. Beside TJ Maxx is a Sears and Myles and his papaw got on a lawnmower to take a "ride". He loved it...Myles that is!
I'm so blessed to have the best in-laws in the world! I love them so much!

my 'UH-OH'
Now that I've been doing this blog since April, the stories I've told are starting to run together in my head. So if I repeat things, just know that it apparently happens a lot or it's really cute or funny in order for me to be repeating it. Anyway, Myles still has a pacifier. We'll probably get rid of it before his 2nd birthday, but for now while he's still teething pretty bad we give it to him...but only when he's sleeping and extremely fussy from being in pain. In the mornings Myles is usually awake, standing in his crib talking or something, and it's typically a LOT earlier than we want it to be. The past couple weeks he's been waking up at 6am or before...meaning if I get up at 5:30, I have to go FULL SPEED to get completely ready by the time he's up. Something he loves to do to get our attention is to deliberately throw his pacifier on the floor and say "uh-oh". He keeps saying 'uh-oh' and then finally starts whining and crying until we go in there. Once we pick him up we make him put his pacifier back in his crib and it has to stay there. He knows that's where is stays and recently there will be times I walk into his room to take something and he'll follow me. As soon as he gets in there he'll say "uh-oh" and go over to his crib to look for his pacifier (i typically hide it under his blanket). Many kids call it a pacifier, pacy, binky....but Myles...it's his "uh-oh" :)

the cup scream
Myles is so funny and has a great memory - I guess all kids probably have good memories for the most part, I think adults lose memory after their first child is born - someone should do a study on this, but I vote not me! We have a bunch of plastic cups we stack and Myles loves to knock them down. Every once in a blue moon we would talk into one of the cups and it would make a deep funny sound. Myles did it some here and there, but never much. This evening we were playing and Myles picked up a cup and screamed in it for about 5 straight minutes...long enough for me to go to another room to get the camera, come back...wait for the camera to come on and get load, THEN take a picture - what a smart boy!

milk or no milk...that is the question
We think Myles may have a slight milk allergy because he gets very congested when he's drinking milk. He has eczema and we've already had horrific experience with egg so it's no surprising there are other things. Today we went to the dr. and basically here's the scoop...we're trying rice milk for 10 days, then back to reg. milk for a couple weeks to see if his congestion goes away some. Wish us luck!

Myles and Porter play date
This evening Porter came over to play for a while with Myles this evening. They had a great time. Now that Myles is getting a little older it was interesting to see him play with another kid...especially because it was 'his toys'. There were a few times where Porter reached for a toy and Myles got just a little bit mad about it, then there were times when I would play with Porter and a couple times where I held him and Myles got really upset. You could tell he knew I was his mommy and some other boy had his mommy, haha. I felt sorry for him, but it was very cute too!

busy bees
Sundays are always crazy days for us and Myles is such a trooper. We got home about 3:45 today. Myles slept on the way home and then i put him in bed once we got home - he slept over 2 hours total. The only bad thing is as soon as he woke up he started screaming and screamed for about 20-30 minutes. His teeth were hurting SO bad. It didn't matter what we did, he kept screaming. Finally after a while he calmed down. We attempted to grill some chicken but it started raining, so we cooked it in the oven. Myles loves BBQ sauce (just a little on the chicken). Myles got the baked beans all over him so we went straight to the bath. After that he ran around in his diaper for a while and enjoyed playing with many of his toys. Luke and I joke that right before Myles goes to bed he starts running around really fast from room to room - and this is before we say "it's time to go to bed."

Mommy's inventions
Today was a good day at home. Only once a month or so we are home on Saturday and it's such a good feeling. I only went outside this morning when Myles and I played with some rocks and sticks. We played and had a great time today with lots of different things. Being a mom is lots of fun for me because I love to be creative. I've found (as I'm sure every parent does) that most kids like to play with anything that's NOT a toy, so I love to make random things with what I find around the house. Today Myles was playing with this ribbon that was left over from Ashley's wedding - he would hold one end and shake it and I'd hold the other and shake it. I finally I tied one end of the ribbon to a 'beach shovel' , it was loads of fun...so much fun, it was hard to get a good picture of Myles because he was running around shacking it. He felt good today and didn't fuss much at all.

my bucket
Myles does all kinds of things with his toys. This evening he got this pail that you put little blocks in...and put a bunch of stuff in it and i was trying to show him how to hold it by the handle...instead it wanted to put it on his shoulder, haha. We had to go pick him up early from daycare today (about 3:30) because the daycare called and said he had a fever of 101 and he wasn't acting right. When we got home we checked his temp and it was about 100.7 or so - he was a little extra fussy, but he was ok. We gave him some Tylenol and he ate great at supper. We put him to bed at 7:30 and he just screamed and screamed...after a while i finally got him out and he played and played, I guess he just wasn't ready to go to bed. So he played for about 40 more minutes and finally went to bed quietly....well...besides the noises he's making now......

Samaritan's Purse picnic at Grandfather Mtn.
Today we got off work at 2pm and went to Grandfather Mountain. Each year SP lets us go up to Grandfather Mountain for free, then they feed us BBQ and give away door prizes etc. This morning we were worried because it was raining. Everything cleared up and it was an amazing afternoon. As soon as we got to the HUGE tent they set up at the bottom of the mountain we rode one of their buses up to the very top. We walked across the mile high bridge then waited forever for the bus to take us down to the Nature and animal exhibit. We saw some bears and a golden eagle. Myles said "bear" and pointed at it - so cute! We waited forever to get on a bus back down to the bottom of the mountain and we actually ended up getting on a bus that was going to the top of the mountain then back down to the bottom, it was fun and Myles did wonderful on the bus. We ate supper and Billy Graham was actually there too. He talked for a few minutes, he's such an amazing man of God!

cool shades
Myles has these sunglasses his nana Cruz got him a long time ago and we used to put them on him and he would take them off immediately - but now that he's a little older he keeps them on a little longer (meaning 5-10 seconds, haha). I kept trying to get a good picture of him and he kept moving or want to sit in my lap or something - so i snapped a quick one.
When I picked Myles up from daycare today I was really upset to find out what he had eaten today. Breakfast - cinnamon rolls. Lunch - fried salmon patties. Snack - chocolate doughnuts. I have NEVER given him any of those foods...processed, fried, greasy, sugary, CRAP. I smiled and was nice, but it just hurt me deep down because I've tried so hard to keep him away from that stuff. Oh well, I guess you just can't win every battle.

mommy's phone and long hair
Today's picture was a cute one of Myles pretending to talk on my cell phone. He was talking into it also. I also didn't notice until I uploaded this picture that his hair is getting long. He had a good day at daycare today...they said he was climbing in a chair and they asked him to get down and when he went to get down he slipped and hit his forehead on the table. They said he only cried for a couple of minutes and it didn't really seem to phase him very much. I kept an eye on his head this evening and the redness went away and he seemed completely fine. We went to the mall to walk around for a few minutes and played and had a great time.

mommy's coming home
Tonight I had to go out to eat for work so Luke stayed home with Myles. Myles was screaming when I left, which I hate. They had a pretty good time together and when I called Luke to tell him I was on my way home he told Myles "mommy is coming home, where is mommy?" Then Myles walked up to the door and started playing with the door knob. I love that boy so much and I always miss him, even when I'm away from him an hour or so.

I just pretend to drink soft drinks
I never drink soft drinks myself, but Luke spoiled me the other day and got me a Root Beer, my favorite! It took me about 24 hours to drink it all, but it was good. So this evening after I finished it I washed it up and gave Myles the bottle. He thought it was great pretending to drink a soft drink - and it's going to stay that way, unless one of the grandma's sneaks him some, haha.

double picture day
Today we got up early, like every other weekend. We had to head down to church for prayer at 9, then a women's brunch at 11. Myles got to play with his friends Davis and Dawson and we came back home this evening. This is where...if you don't know the story behind these pictures you'd think we have a strange kid. Myles is a funny boy, but have never laughed so much at him as we have this week. He is talking so much. There are some words he can say like 'bird' and 'more' and 'down' etc...but all the jibberish is what we laugh about. I know I posted something not to long ago about his jibberish, but I didn't get pictures as good as these. These were both in mid-sentence. He was looking right at me and he would pop his chin up in the air and just tell me stuff. I would talk back to him like I knew what he was talking about, but it's just amazing that he just rambles off in full paragraphs. I almost wonder if his stuffed animals have been teaching him their secret language during the middle of the night - and that's what he's speaking. Either way, if you have never heard a child speak this jibberish or 'stuffed animal language' you really need to, it makes you forget all your other troubles in life and just smile.

someone let this kid start school
We have a thing we use to put on our lap and then you can put your laptop or papers etc on it (I'm sure it has a name, but I can't think of it) - thus the cute picture. He had a good day, and enjoyed the spaghetti for supper..I just can't wait for the day when he tries to say the word "spaghetti". Tonight after Myles went to bed he went to sleep very quickly. Then after he was supposedly sound asleep, Luke kept hearing this beeping in the monitor. He went to check on Myles and he was quietly standing in his crib, pushing the buttons on his fan that was beside the crib - too funny! I think Luke put him back down and he fell right back to sleep.

I can read like mommy
Tonight I was looking at this book and Myles walked into his play room and got one of daddy's books off the bookshelf and walked back into the living room. I just thought he was bringing me a book but he kept trying to get up on the couch with me. So I let him up and sat him up close to me..but he crawled over on the couch and sat up against a pillow, just like I was doing. Luke tried getting a picture of him mocking me but Myles moves too fast. He's a funny and smart boy.

ready, set...launch!
today Myles had another great day at daycare. He has a couple new bruises, but that's to be expected. When we got home Myles and I made a launch out of his jack-in-the-box. We would put balls and blocks on it and then make it open and launch them across the room. Myles giggled and had a great time. I took a ton of pictures trying to get a good one of a launch....look closely, see the gray round plastic toy at the top of the jack-in-the-box lid? That's it launching! Myles had his concentration face on! Daddy preached at the church in Boone tonight and did a great job, we had fun seeing lots of friends we haven't seen in a while.

lots of jibberish
Last week Myles started talking a lot more. It's just amazing to think that now he's talking and there's no going backwards from here. We find ourselves cracking up at Myles all the time because he'll be talking 'jibberish' and in his mind they're completely perfect sentences, questions and exclamations! Today when we got home he played and ate and then he climbed up on the brick of the fireplace. I wasn't too nervous because there are bumpers around the corners, but I can't help but think of the scars my step-mom still has today from falling on the fireplace over and over when she was younger. We're very thankful for the safety gear they have today for wild children!

date day and a day with grandma
today Luke and I were off work and we were in High Point so we let Myles stay with grandma while we went around Greensboro all day. We ate at the famous Stamey's BBQ for lunch and went around to many different stores. We didn't buy much, but had fun looking. We at dinner at Macaroni Grill and the gave us a piece of chocolate cake for dessert since it was our Anniversay...well...last Thursday. Myles and grandma had a GREAT day playing and napping and visiting Myles' great grandma and going to Target, etc. When we got back home he had just gotten out of the bath and he has rolling around on a bed stark naked while grandma was covering him in powder - he's so cute! On the way home we thought he would be really tired and it was after his bed time when we left...well, he fell asleep about 20 minutes from our house, haha. I think he actually had 2 really good naps today and was still wound up from when his papaw had gotten home from work. He sure does have a great time at grandma's....i'm still debating whether or not she gave him chocolate or coffee or something ;)
*oh - this is a picture of him playing with his new drum in the car on the way back home that his grandma got him just recently.

to grandma's house we go
Today after church we came to Myles' granma and papaw Roland's house. Grandma was working so Myles got to spend the afternoon with his papaw. He's a curious little guy, but as of recently he's in to EVERTYHING! He was all over the place this afternoon, I bet I said "don't touch" about 300 times. He actually used to listen pretty well when daddy or I said that but now he's got his mind in his own little world. He's usually not very open to kissing people right away but he kissed his papaw tonight. Then when grandma came home he met her at the door. I said "give her a kiss" and he leaned over for a kiss, it was so sweet! Tomorrow he gets to stay with grandma all day while mommy and daddy go out to Greensboro to hang out together. Good luck grandma!
